CITY WORKING TO SECURE WATER RIGHTS

The City of Chelan is working with the State Ecology Department on securing water rights from lake Chelan. City Councilman Tim Hollingsworth says the state has been adjudicating competing water rights applications and determining who gets what. The city is going forward with about 45 acre-feet more water for the city. Hollingsworth says that while many think the lake is a bottomless resource, most all the water in the lake is spoken for:



Hollingsworth says the city's application has been in the state's inbox for quite some time:



No word on just when that process with the state will be completed.
