The Chelan City Council has given the OK to let its grant writer to work on getting a two-million dollar grant for the Chelan Valley Housing Trust. At its meeting Tuesday, the council approved a Task Order Authorization for Ardurra, the city's grant writer, to provide funding application support for completing a 2023 CHIP grant for the Housing Trust. Chelan City Administrator Wade Farris:
That's the Anderson Road project the Housing Trust has been planning, with up to 45 homes. The grant would pay for onsite water, sewer and stormwater improvements for the housing district. According to the grant requirements, one-quarter of the homes must be for families making 80 percent of the area's median income, for affordable housing; also, the project must get underway within two years of the grant award. Farris says getting the grant would be a plus not only for the housing trust, but for the city as well:
The grant application period is open now through October 31st; the grant awards will be announced next January.
