CHELAN STUDENT WINS STEM AWARD

A shout out to an award winning Chelan High School Student.

Congratulations to senior Natalie Vazquez, one of eleven young ladies named a “Rising Star” by the Apple STEM Network. The award recognizes young women that explore science, technology, engineering and math to support their education, career, personal development and community.


Natalie was nominated by Chelan High School science teacher April Slagle, who said, and we quote, “In classes, [Natalie] is a leader and a top performer, mastering the material through perseverance and hard work,” end quote. Natalie is the president of the Chelan Med Club, she shadows twice a week at Columbia Valley Community Health in Chelan, working with the physicians, as well as shadowing with Lifeline Ambulance.


Natalie and the other award winners were chosen in partnership with regional networks. They will receive $500 and celebrate at the Washington STEM’s Summit Luncheon at Microsoft’s Redmond campus.
