A Chelan parent has pleaded guilty to charges of felony harassment and two related misdemeanors after an incident involving the distribution of explicit images of a teenager at Eastmont Junior High.
The accused, Amanda Sue Austin, then 47 years old, was caught on surveillance footage along with her teenage daughter illegally entering the school premises on March 21, 2021. The incident involved the illegal dissemination of explicit images of another teen, and it was quickly brought to light after school authorities discovered printed pages containing the victim's images, email address, and social media accounts scattered in the school hallways and a restroom.
Austin, now 48, is facing a possible three-month jail term with work release. Her sentencing is scheduled for two weeks from now in Douglas County Superior Court. She has pleaded guilty to the charges of felony harassment, disclosing intimate images, and first-degree criminal trespass, all classified as gross misdemeanors.
The police investigation revealed that the incident was born out of a rivalry between Austin's daughter and the teenage victim. Austin's daughter had already pleaded guilty in juvenile court the previous year for her role in the case, also charged with a gross misdemeanor.
