CHELAN MAN ARRESTED ON RAPE AND ASSAULT CHARGES

Chelan County Sheriff's Office took 52-year-old Darren Daniel Hunter into custody on Sunday following his arrest on charges of rape and assault. The suspect had recently relocated from the Seattle area to Chelan.

Prior to moving to Chelan, Hunter worked as a middle school teacher in Kent, but his employment was terminated after he pleaded guilty to charges of assault with sexual motivation. Presently, he is not employed by any school district.

Chelan County Sheriff's Office Chief Ryan Moody emphasized the urgency of apprehending Hunter, considering him a potential threat to the public. Detectives are actively investigating Hunter's recent past, suspecting he may have been involved in additional unreported crimes.

Anyone with information that could aid the investigation is urged to contact the Chelan County Sheriff's Office tip line.

Specific details surrounding Hunter's latest charges remain limited, and the investigation is ongoing. Currently, Darren Daniel Hunter is detained at the Chelan County Regional Justice Center.
