CHELAN FIRE STAFFING AND EQUIPMENT

As wildfire season is getting underway, Chelan Fire and Rescue is making plans to be ready when weather conditions make wildfires more probable. It's called severity staffing, which means having enough staff available when it's needed. Fire Chief Brandon Asher:





Although it won't come in time for wildfire season, Asher is awaiting the arrival of new equipment, and it's been a long wait:





If you're thinking the fire department is always getting new equipment, Asher has some news for you:





Asher says it was a good thing they ordered those engines when they did, for there have been two price increases for those engines since, and the wait time for a ladder truck ordered today is five years.
