CHELAN CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER PROPOSAL

At their meeting Tuesday, the Chelan City Council gave its OK to negotiating with the Chelan County Sheriff's Office for a code enforcement officer dedicated to the city. Chelan City Administrator Wade Farris says the officer will be focusing on the car situation in town:

Farris says Chelan is at the point where code violations are almost out of control:

But whether the Sheriff's Office can find an officer to do that is another question. The city wants an officer who can work weekends, but as we reported earlier this week, Sheriff Mike Morrison told the Manson Community Council finding somebody to do that is not going to be easy:

Morrison said the city wants a code enforcement officer who could work Wednesday thru Saturday.
