The Chelan City Council got its first look at the city's 2024 budget Tuesday afternoon, and Councilman John Olson's first comment about it on KOZI Wednesday was how expensive it is:
The 2024 budget has an initial project cost estimate of 4 million 177 thousand dollars. More than half of that comes under the Public Works Department for infrastructure projects. Chelan City Administrator Wade Farris says the city is applying for grants to pay for much of it:
Among the projects listed in the 2024 budget is 500-thousand dollars carried over from this year for the Chelan Butte Partnership, 95-thousand for replacement of flooring at city hall, and 140-thousand dollars for replacing the heating and air conditioning system at the library.
