[3/18/22] Port Director Rory Turner Resigning

Posted in Business & Economy, Local Government & Meetings

There’s an opening on the Chelan-Douglas Regional Port Authority Board of Directors. Rory Turner, who represents Chelan, Manson, Entiat and North Wenatchee on the board, has submitted his resignation, effective April 30th. RPA Executive Director Jim Kuntz said it was unexpected:

Turner has served as a Chelan County Port Commissioner since January 2016; Kuntz said one of his legacies will be bringing the Chelan and Douglas County ports together:

Now, Chelan County Port commissioners have to find a replacement. There’s an RPA board meeting set for Tuesday, where they’re expected to announce the process to take applications from those in Turner’s district, District Three; and explain just what they’re looking for in a new commissioner. Kuntz has no say in a replacement, but says one of Turner’s skill sets was his real estate background:

Whoever replaces Turner on the RPA board will serve through next year, but will have to run in the November 2023 election to serve the remainder of Turner’s term.
