[3/18/22] Forest Service Burning Season Getting Underway

You’ll probably be seeing some smoke in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest next week. With Spring comes burning season, and we’re talking about “broadcast burns” where large areas are burned, rather than the mostly pile burning that happens in the fall. Chelan District Ranger Kari Grover-Weir says when they burn depends in large part on Mother Nature:

On another note, Grover-Weir says the Chelan County PUD did its March snowpack survey late last month, and it showed the snowpack to be 94 percent of normal.
