[11/19/21] COVID And NCW Kids

The North Central Educational Service District has the second-highest rate of COVID-19 cases among kids up to 19 years old. It also has the highest concentration of virus cases in middle and high school kids. Although Chelan-Douglas Health District’s Interim Health Officer Dr. James Wallace says that doesn’t necessarily translate into more hospitalizations:

But the case rate among kids is going down, and Wallace give credit for that to schools:

However, outside the classrooms is a different story:

Dr. Wallace says with the holidays approaching, we need to be careful, saying the more protective layers that can be put in place, the better. He says with colder temperatures and people spending more time indoors, people have to be careful with gatherings and being around people whose COVID risk we don’t know well.
