[11/19/21] Chelan Property Taxes To Increase

Posted in Local Government & Meetings

The property tax will be going up for city of Chelan property owners. That increase of one percent was approved by the Chelan City Council at its meeting last Tuesday. That one percent is the most the city can raise it under state law. But Chelan Mayor Bob Goedde says it doesn’t amount to much, and City Administrator Wade Ferris agrees:

Also at Tuesday’s meeting, the council heard the Historic Downtown Chelan Association’s proposal for downtown revitalization; Goedde, who has voiced concern about some aspects of the plan – particularly the proposed widening of sidewalks, and its effects on motor vehicle traffic and truck deliveries – said that was addressed by HDCA Executive Director Erin McArdle:

Speaking on KOZI last week, Goedde said the downtown would, in his words, “look like a westside plaza when it’s done” by narrowing streets and adding crosswalks. He said citizens need to own into the HDCA’s plan.
