Posted in Feature, Local Government & Meetings

Thursday’s City of Chelan Special Council Meeting may bring a glimmer of hope for our recently lost float plane service on Lake Chelan.

Last week’s announcement that Chelan Seaplanes was ending their service on Lake Chelan caught many of us by surprise…

That’s Shane Carlson, owner-operator of Chelan Seaplanes, which has been in operation on Lake Chelan since 2009, replacing longtime charter service, Chelan Airways, which started in 1945.

Carlson says he had little choice but to close the business after his lease was abruplty terminated to make way for the new Sunset Marina on the southshore of Lake Chelan…

The seaplane service had been at its present location for 30 years. Prior to that, it was based at the City of Chelan Park Marina on the northshore.

Thursday morning, the Chelan City Council is holding a special meeting to discuss potential locations for the chelan seaplane service, which may include the City of Chelan Marina…

Thursday’s special council meeting is scheduled for 10 am in the Council Chambers at City Hall here in Chelan.

As always, you are encouraged to attend.
