[8/17/16] 80 Residents In Manson Will Have No Power Tomorrow- Church To Provide AC
To help Manson-area customers keep cool during a necessary power outage on Thursday, Aug. 18, North Shore Bible Church is opening its doors to affected PUD customers seeking shelter from the heat. Power will be off from 9 a.m. to about 4:30 p.m. for about 80 homes along a two-mile stretch of Cooper Gulch Road.
The church at 123 Wapato Point Parkway has table and chairs, and Chelan PUD will provide bottled water.
The power outage is needed so crews can safely remove the old primary wire from the rebuilt section of line as one of the final steps in a three-month project. The work included moving some poles for better access and installing 40 new poles to reduce the length of spans.
The project will increase capacity for future growth in the area and provide more reliable electric service for customers. In addition, power flow out of the Wapato Substation will be more balanced on the new electrical lines.
All of the affected customers have been notified by phone about Thursday’s planned outage, and PUD staff and Chelan crew members have talked with many of them in person.
Chelan PUD is grateful to North Shore Bible Church for making air conditioned space available to customers who will be without power on a day forecasted to see temperatures rise into the 90s.
