As crews continue to investigate the four generating units that were removed from service about a month ago after a deep crack was discovered in a stainless steel rod that delivers oil to the servo motor, which adjusts the angle of the turbine blades.

Seven other generating units at Rocky Reach dam do not have a similar design and will continue to operate.
The utility estimates the repair cost to the District is in the range of $5 million, although substantially more work is needed to refine this estimate. There also will be costs associated with the lost generation.
