Chelan Rodeo Action Kicks Off Aug. 1 7/19/2013
Its Rodeo Time in the Lake Chelan Valley, and for the first two weeks of August, pick-up trucks and horse trailers will number the same as convertibles.   Rodeo action kicks off with the Lake Chelan PWRA Rodeo on the first weekend and continues with the Chelan Junior Rodeo the next. 
 
The Chelan FFA Alumni invites you to partake in all the Lake Chelan Rodeo events.  Festivities begin with a long standing tradition of the Rodeo Parade on Thursday August 1st in downtown Chelan at 7:00 PM.  Friday Family Night is August 2nd and presented by your “Hometown Radio” the Icicle Broadcasting Company, the gates open at 5:00 PM along with the kids’ corner, concession stand, vendor booths, and the North Cascades Sportsmans Club Beer Garden.  Bring your kids to the “Cowboy Kids Corner” to learn to rope with the McMillan Family Trick Riders, take pictures with cowboys young and old, and find out more about being a cowboy. The rodeo performance kicks off with the Grand Entry at 7:30 with visiting royalty, the Skagit Rein Riders, and the National Anthem performed by Miss Lake Chelan,  Sarah Kunkel.  The rodeo action starts with Ranch Bronc Riding sanctioned by the Western States Ranch Rodeo Association.  The Professional Western Rodeo Association (PWRA) action starts next with Bareback Riding, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping,  Saddle Bronc Riding,  Tie Down Roping, Breakaway Roping, Barrel Racing, and Bull Riding.  The Skagit Rein Riders and McMillan Family Trickriders will be the entertainment both nights of the rodeo.  “Our World Famous Chicken Race” presented by the Chelan Transfer Co. will take place both nights for kids 12 and under.   
 
On Saturday morning,  the Chelan FFA Alumni “Cowboy Breakfast” fires up at 6:00 AM and goes to 10:00 AM enjoy pancakes, eggs, sausages, or biscuits and gravy.   The Timed Event Slack Performance for those cowboys and cowgirls who didn’t fit into the show will kick off at 9:00 AM and admission is free. 
 
“A Blue and Gold Saturday Night—A Tribute to the FFA” is presented by All Seasons Rentals and Events.  The gates open at 5:00 PM for the kid’s corner, cookshack, vendors, beer garden.  The Grand Entry will feature Local and State FFA Officers, a tribute to the FFA and FFA Advisors, visiting royalty, and local dignitaries.   Following the rodeo action both nights the beer garden will stay open till 11:00 PM.  
 
Tickets are available at the Chelan Shell Food Mart.  Pre Sale Only Family Passes for 2 Adults and 3 Students for $30.00.   Adult tickets are $10.00 and Student/Seniors are $6.00.  Children 6 and under are free.  All seats are general admission. 
 
The Lake Chelan Rodeo is proud to introduce rodeo announcer, Marty Campbell, from Pendleton, OR.  Marty brings with him a lifetime of rodeo experience and an old school sound of the great ones from the yesteryear.  The Layton & McMillan Rodeos will provide the stock.  The 2013 Lake Chelan Rodeo is produced by the Chelan FFA Alumni with all proceeds going to support the activities and members of the Chelan FFA Chapter.
