Shelby Dietrich and Sarah Kunkel from Chelan High School received national recognition at the Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL) National Conference held in Anaheim, CA June 27-30, 2013. Over 8,500 FBLA students from across the country plus Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, and the Cayman Islands competed in 50 different events representing a wide range of activities and the business and leadership development focus of FBLA. Dietrich and Kunkel competed in the Desktop Publishing event and brought home the second place award and cash prize of $500. Their event consisted of a 2 hour production test where they created a poster, brochure/registration form and name badge for a fictional outdoor camp in Hawaii as well as a 1 hour objective test. “I am so incredibly proud of Shelby and Sarah and their accomplishment. Hearing the girls’ names being called and seeing them on stage in front of almost 9,000 students, advisors, and guests was truly an indescribable experience,” said Shelley Charlton, Chelan High School FBLA Advisor. There has only been one other student in history of Chelan FBLA to place at the National level. Congratulations Shelby and Sarah!
