Bridgeport City To Finalize Moratorium 3/27/2013
The Bridgeport City Council plans to finalize an ordinance with a second reading this evening, that will set into motion a moratorium on any marijuana based businesses within city limits.
Bridgeport Mayor, Marilyn Lynn, says tonight’s second reading is part of the required process that started with a public hearing last month.
Washington voters approved Initiative 502 – legalizing the recreational use of marijuana. Mayor Lynn says it has forced cities across the state to deal with similar issues.
Once the second reading of the ordinance is completed- the council must publish it as a public notice and the moratorium will take effect five days later.
Tonight’s council meeting will begin at 7pm in Council Chambers at BridgeportCity Hall – KOZI will have a recap of that meeting later this week.
