It’s that time of year again- when the Chelan Ranger District of the Okanogan-WenatcheeNational Forest plans for prescribed burns in our area. This year- those will be taking place beginning in just a few weeks.
According to Jeff Bouschor, Assistant Fire Management Officer for the district, this year, they have scheduled a total of 850 acres over three project areas.
Many of you may remember that several of the prescribed burns last spring were started by the dropping of self igniting ping-pong type balls- however, this year, Bouschor says that won’t be the case.
This year’s prescribed burns will not happen until the weather allows – which Bouschor expects to happen by Mid-March.
