Washington State Department of Transportation is asking drivers to plan ahead tomorrow, as crews work on the Knapps Hill Tunnel – prompting its closure.
WSDOT Communications Director, Jeff Adamson, told KOZI that the tunnel will be closed tomorrow only from 9AM until 3PM.
Tomorrow’s repairs are not unusual as vibration from truck traffic and the regularity of minor earthquakes take a toll on the tunnel’s fixtures.
In addition to drivers- anyone planning to travel by way of Link Transit, will also be affected by the Knapps Hill Tunnel Closure- although according to Link’s Marketing Coordinator, Eric West, it will only influence a few routes between Chelan and Wenatchee.
The Knapps Hill Tunnel is included on the WSDOT Structure Preservation project list for future funding to complete the fourth and final section of an ongoing tunnel lining projects which will also update the illumination system for the entire tunnel.
