ChelanCounty Commissioners gave their nod of approval to ChelanCounty Sheriff’s Office to begin a Traffic Safety Program that will launch next month.

 

The program, which funded through ChelanCounty Public Works, will bring on a new deputy who will work exclusively on traffic safety by way of targeting drivers who are speeding, not wearing seatbels or talking on their cell phones.

 

Sheriff Brian Burnett told KOZI that if the program generates revenue- a stronger presence will likely be added this summer.

 

Initial funding will run $120 thousand- with plans for revenue from tickets to fund the program’s future.
