Bridgeport City Council is taking a different approach when it comes to maintaining, repairing and clearing city sidewalks – and will begin doing it all themselves.

 

Most cities and towns in the State have ordinances that impose the upkeep of sidewalks bordering their property to the homeowners- including repairing and the clearing of snow.

 

Bridgeport Mayor, Marilyn Lynn, admits that it is unusual for a city to take on the responsibility of keeping up with sidewalks.

 

The Bridgeport City Council meets the second and fourth Wednesday of each month- making their next meeting at 7PM next Wednesday, January 23 in Council Chambers at BridgeportCity Hall.
