As we roll into the most popular weekend to set up and decorate Christmas Trees, OkanoganWenatcheeNational Forest officials want to remind you that permits are still available to cut your own tree.
In 2011, nearly 70 percent of households surveyed chose a live tree over an artificial tree, and of those live trees, 16 percent were cut-your-own.
Forest Service Spokeswoman, Robin Demario, says that cutting a tree in the National Forest can save you a lot of money, with each permit costing only $5.
Permits can be purchased at the Chelan Ranger District at 428 West Woodin Ave, the Entiat Ranger District at 2108 Entiat Way, or at the Methow Ranger District and that address is 24 West Chewuch Road in Winthrop.
