Bridgeport is one step closer to the construction phase of their wastewater treatment plan upgrade after the council gave their nod of approval during their meeting last week to begin advertising for bids on the project.
Bridgeport Mayor, Marilynn Lynn expects to open those bids during the Thursday, December 13th council meeting and looks to see work begin within the first three months of 2013.
The project became necessary when the current facility reached maximum capacity and the projected population showed significant increase.
Lynn says the project will run $5 million, which is $3 million less than originally estimated.
Construction on the project will take more than a year- with completion planned for spring of 2014.
