Commissioner Weighs In On Apple Cup 11/23/2012
Today is the big day for both Cougar fans and Husky fans alike.

The Apple Cup has produced some renowned games since its start. From snow-packed stadiums to last minute touchdown drives, there seems to never be a shortage of excitement when the University of Washington and WashingtonStateUniversity match up.

UW leads the all-time series between the schools with a 67-31 record, and 6 games ending with a tie. The huskies have also captured the last three meetings between the schools.
The first rivalry game between the two schools was held in 1900 and resulted in a tie. This year will mark the pair’s 105th game.

The teams played for the “Governor’s Trophy” until 1962 when the game was renamed the “Apple Cup” to represent Washington’s famous apple crop.

Both Cougar fans and Husky fans alike are gearing up for the big game tomorrow- and even our local officials will be cheering on their favorite team.

ChelanCounty Commissioner, Doug England, told KOZI this week, that this is an issue that he and the other commissioners do not agree on.

This year’s Apple Cup game is at Martin Stadium, in Pullman and kick-off is at 12:30 today- the game will be broadcast on FOX network.
