There is a new wolf pack on the Colville Indian Reservation. The Strawberry Pack is the ninth Washington wolf and there might be as many as four more in Eastern Washington according to Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.
This is good news for those that criticized the WDFWs for eliminating of the Wedge Wolf Pack after non-lethal attempts were made to keep them from killing local cattle.
To minimize conflict WDFW officials are working with ranchers to take additional steps to protect their cattle. Ranchers who enter into new cost-sharing agreements can qualify for assistance to pay for electric fencing, guard dogs, range riders and other protective measures.
