Details on the New Library 10/8/2012
The Chelan Public Library was started by volunteers in a small room off Main Street in 1914. The library has moved three times since then due to fire and expansions. It is currently Located on Bradley Street but not for long.

This Spring the city acquired the Masonic Temple which will, after renovations, house the library. Fans of the library helped raise over $160,000, which was required to qualify for the Washington State Community Development block grant for $490,000.

Librarian Gloria Groves was eager to share the details with KOZI.

The works not done yet though, the library is still accepting donations and books which can be sold at their annual book sales to help raise funds.

Gloria went on to put a call out for volunteers.

The next step for the new library is to obtain bids on the renovation. The hope is that it will be completed by August of 2013.
