Earlier in the year a Citizens Advisory Committee was formed to review and help identify emergency service needs for the community. The CAC looked closely at service levels throughout the 125 square mile jurisdiction and based on their findings they made a recommendation to the Board of Fire Commissioners to add stations and fire apparatus resources to the SouthShore area.
During their June 20, 2012 meeting, Chelan Fire and Rescue’s Board of Fire Commissioners, acting on the CAC’s recommendation, passed a motion to place a Fire Levy Lid Lift on the November General Election in 2012. This lid lift, if approved by voters would be an increase of $0.18 per $1000 of assessed valuation, bringing the District to $1.16/$1000.
Chelan Fire Chief Tim Lemon informed KOZI on what those funds would help pay for.
Chief Lemon says that they want the public to have accurate information about the proposal and invites anyone that may have questions, concerns or comments to contact him.
