Financial Affects of Wildfires 9/25/2012
For just more than two weeks, our area has been affected by multiple wildfires burning nearly 53 thousand acres in ChelanCounty alone.
And, along with the obvious ways the fires have impacted our county, which includes the evacuation of 600 people, the total firefighting cost of $21 million so far and an influx of nearly 1,700 people by way of firefighters; ChelanCounty Commissioners are taking a deeper look at how the fires are affecting our county.
ChelanCounty Commissioner Doug England says they really won’t have a final assessment until the firefighting efforts are done, and the smoke has cleared.
The ChelanCounty fires are being listed at 30% containment.
