The evacuation level for residents near the First Creek Fire on the southshore of Lake Chelan has been raised from Level 1 to Level 2.
28 residents in the First Creek area have been or will soon be contacted by Chelan County Sheriff Deputies asking them to be prepared to evacuate at a moments notice. In addition, ten households in the Granite Creek area have been or will soon be notified as well.
Level 1 evacuation is simply a notification of awareness of a fire while Level 2 is a warning to be prepared to evacuate. Level 3 simply means to get out. Fire managers say the increase from Level 1 to Level 2 evacuation is strictly precautionary.
The First Creek Fire has not escaped its boundaries but if it were to, the potential for rapid growth is extreme.
