Last weekend’s lightning storm left its mark through the Okanogan Wenatchee National Forest- including right here in the Chelan area.

 

Elka Missal, Public Information Officer for the Chelan Ranger District says there were 65 reported fires across the forest, but crews are focusing on two.

 

That was Elka Missal, with the Chelan Ranger District, who adds that keeping the public informed on the fires is important part of the puzzle.

 

Along with contacting local media outlets, such as KOZI, officials will be hosting a public briefing tonight at 7PM at the Chelan Fire Hall.

 

Again that public briefing will be held at the Chelan District 7 Fire Station at 232 E. Wapato Ave in Chelan.
