A Chamber of Commerce is a network of businesses whose main objective is to promote and ensure the livelihood of local businesses.

 

But have you ever wondered how Chelan’s Chamber of Commerce earns its money- and what it does to promote our valley?

 

According to Chamber Director, Mike Steele, the chamber has four basic methods of funding.

 

Steele adds that the community truly does receive a tremendous benefit from folks who don’t live in our valley, but stay in local hotels.

 

In 2000 the Lake Chelan Tourism Promotion Group was formed and contracted with the City of Chelan to receive 3% of the funds dedicated exclusively to attracting more visitor dollars to town- state law dictates the use of these funds to marketing only.
