Thanks to a quick response by Chelan Fire and Rescue, yesterdays brush fire behind Karma Vineyards in the Bear Mountain area was kept to just 4-acres.
The wind driven fire was reported to Rivercom Dispatch just before 8:30 yesterday morning. Fire Chief Tim Lemon says when crews arrived they found a fire approximately 2-acers in size moving uphill towards structures in an area with limited access.
And even as firefighters battled the fire, KOZI was receiving reports from those in the vicinity that the cause of the fire could very well be electrical in nature- which, according to Chief Lemon turns out to be true, to some degree.
Chief Lemon also reminds people to remain diligent about fires- adding that if you see something, call early so fire crews have the opportunity to stop it before it gets too large.
