Tonight’s Brewster City Council meeting will likely bring on a lively discussion as three of the council members have voiced their desire to drop the city police department and instead contract with Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office, while the Mayor and at least one other council member are strongly showing resistance to the idea.
The contentious issue has stirred several calls and comments and Mayor Lee Webster is encouraging residents who will be affected to attend tonight’s meeting.
Mayor Webster told KOZI that OkanoganCounty services for law enforcement comes with an annual price tag of at least $1 million.
Tonight’s council meeting will start at 6PM and will be held in the council chambers at City Hall. KOZI will be attending that meeting and have a full report for you tomorrow morning.
