Antoine Creek Fire hits 4000 acres in 18 hours 8/6/2012
Approximately 30 residents and campers at the AltaLakeState Park were given a level 1 evacuation notice (which is an alert that residents should be aware of the danger that exists, and monitor local media outlets for information). The level 1 evacuation notice remains at this time.
The fire was called in shortly before noon on Sunday and began to spread and was declared a State Mob fire by 4:45 Sunday evening.
The fire is estimated to be at 4,000 acres, burning in heavy sage and timber, in steep terrain.
Local fire districts from Chelan and Okanogan Counties, the Bureau of Land Management, United States Forest Service, Washington State department of Natural Resources, Okanogan Emergency Management, Washington state Patrol Fire Mobilization and Washington State Department of Transportation make up the crew of 210 personnel.
No injuries have been reported at this time- and a 13-mile stretch of Highway 97 was closed overnight, but has been since re-opened.
KOZI is in contact with fire officials and will keep you updated with any confirmed updates.
