Fire Levy To Be On November Ballot 7/17/2012
Chelan Fire District 7 Board of Commissioners officially approved a resolution during their board meeting last week that will put a fire levy lid lift to public vote on the November General Election Ballot.

Though Commissioners voiced their intent in past meetings to do so, the resolution was just passed last Wednesday and will ask voters to approve a lid lift of 18 cents per $100 thousand property value. The funding will provide for two south shore fire stations as well as the apparatus and equipment for those stations.

Chelan’s Fire Chief, Tim Lemon, explains what approval of the levy lid lift would mean for the district.

Chief Lemon adds that they have already secured a temporary facility along the south shore.

The Fire Department, along with its personnel will provide facts and information to the public on the Levy Lid Lift, however they may not advocate for or against its passage- a group of citizens will likely be formed to support and or not support the levy.

Commissioners will meet again on Wednesday, August 8 at 6PM.
