Despite a cooler, wetter spring than normal, the local ranger districts are on alert for possibilities of wildfires caused by fireworks this Fourth of July.
Wenatchee National Forest Ranger District Spokesperson, Susan Peterson, says that the forecast calls for hot and dry weather the rest of this week, and into next week.
In 2011 there were 264 fires caused by fireworks in the state with an estimated loss of nearly $600 thousand.
