Forests of the upper MethowValley have been selected as one of the 14 areas around the nation participating in a forest restoration campaign called Treasured Landscapes, Unforgettable Experiences- being conducted by the National Forest Foundation.
The Foundation is a nonprofit partner of the US Forest Service and works closely to help implement restoration and community engagement efforts nation-wide.
Kathleen Dowd-Gailey, Northwest regional director for the Forest Foundation told KOZI that her organization held a meeting in Winthrop last week.
Kathleen adds that they will have a clearer picture of the specific restoration projects selected for funding in the Methow by the end of next month, but will likely cost around $2 million.
