The State Employment Security Department released jobless numbers from April last week- and officials say, it’s not bad, but it isn’t pretty, either.
The unemployment rate was 8.7 percent- which is down from last year, but just barely- and stands as the smallest year to year gain in eight months.
Regional Labor Economist, Mark Berreth, says usually, this area sees a higher drop in the unemployment rate this time of year.
For Chelan and DouglasCounties, transportation, warehousing, retail trade and manufacturing showed the largest year to year gains for April.
