The Chelan City Council managed to pass an ordinance that allows CollectiveMedicalMarijuanaGardens without allowing them during their regular meeting last week- by requiring collective gardens to follow both state as well as federal law.
State law allows medical marijuana patients to collectively grow for up to ten qualifying patients, with 15 plants per patient allowed.
But marijuana for any use is illegal under federal law.
Mayor Bob Goedde, tells KOZI that until the federal law changes, the City of Chelan is playing it safe.
The passage of that ordinance, however, was not unanimous, as Councilmember Ben Higgins was the lone no vote.
The Chelan City Council will meet again one week from today, on May 24th at 6 Pm in the Council Chambers on Johnson.
