Chelan County Noise Ordinance Approved 5/1/2012
After six weeks of tweaking and three public hearings, ChelanCounty Commissioners have settled on a noise ordinance that will make it unlawful to unreasonably create loud, frequent, repetitive or continuous noise that exceeds a reasonable person standard.
The resolution was approved during their meeting yesterday afternoon and will impose a fine of $250 or more.
According to CountyCommissioner, Doug England, the ordinance was drafted with an emphasis of enforceability and simplicity.
The new ordinance comes with exceptions that include regularly scheduled community events on government or school property and county permitted events on private land, link trolley bells, construction noise between 7Am and 10 PM and any activity for the preservation of public health, safety and welfare as well as agricultural activities.
The ordinance goes into effect May 16.
