Residents of select neighborhoods in Chelan will soon be allowed to cruise the streets in their golf carts thanks to a recent decision by the Chelan Council. Councilmember’s approved an ordinance last Thursday designating a golf cart zone on city streets in an area surrounding the Lake Chelan Municipal Golf course.

 

Carts must meet state requirements, which include keeping the golf cart street legal and insured.

 

City Administrator, Jim Reinbold says the golf cart zone is a first for the City of Chelan but has been in use in other areas of the state after getting the okay from Olympia.

 

The new ordinance covering most of Chelan Hills Division 2 and Golf Course Terrace surrounding the golf course will go into effect the middle of next month. For details of the exact areas covered under the ordinance you will need to contact ChelanCity Hall.
