Tuesdays U.S. District Court ruling in favor of North Central Regional Libraries authority to filter content on library computers, may signal the end of a multi-year legal battle stemming from a lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union.
Dan Howard, Director of Public Services with North Central Regional Library District, said this case has been heard by several courts over a number of years.
Howard says the filters are in place because allowing pornographic material does not support the mission of public libraries.
North Central Regional Library is based out of Wenatchee with branches throughout Okanogan, Grant, Ferry, Douglas and ChelanCounties.
