Whooping Cough Confirmed In Our Area 4/10/2012
Health Officials are reporting three cases of Pertussis, often referred to as whooping cough, in Chelan and DouglasCounties.
 
Mary Small, Public Information Officer for Chelan Douglas Public Health says all three cases were confirmed in the past week.
 
The season for pertussis usually begins in April and continues through the summer with cases typically peaking in July and August and dropping off in the fall.
 
Petussis is highly contagious and sometimes fatal, particularly among infants younger than three months.
