Nearly four years after being fired by the ChelanCounty Sheriff’s Office, former Deputy Dale England has been cleared of all wrongdoing and will receive more than $200,000 as part of a settlement agreement.
England was fired in 2008 by then Sheriff Mike Harum after leaving what he thought was humorous recorded telephone message intended for his flight instructor. In the message, England stated that he “had enough pistols to shoot him, one for each day of the week for a month.”
The Montana couple who actually received the message contacted law enforcement, who then traced it back to England’s home phone.
Jim Cline, attorney for Dale England, says his client was devastated when he learned he was being released from his duties.
Cline adds that a settlement should have been finalized several years ago.
ChelanCounty Commissioner Doug England, brother of Dale England, abstained from any discussion regarding the settlement- leaving the negotiations up to the two other commissioners.
