In an attempt to become more versatile and offer better service through communication, The Bridgeport City Council approved the emergency medical services request to purchase the Spanish language program, Rosetta Stone. The City will spend $2,000 for two EMS staff members to complete the on-line course.
Bridgeport Mayor, Marilynn Lynn says that the city staff, primarily the EMS personnel, often strikes a language barrier that puts a damper on the service they are able to provide.
Rosetta Stone is the leading language learning software in the world, with millions of learners in more than 150 countries.
Mayor Lynn says she expects the EMS crew to begin the twelve month program this spring.
