ChelanCounty Commissioners will host a public hearing today to accept public comment on a proposed noise ordinance that would impose fines of up to $500 for any noise that can be heard beyond a distance of 50 feet.
The proposed ordinance has created a rift has between ChelanCounty Commissioners and regional chamber organizations, who are speaking out about the issue.
Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Nancy Smith worries about where the line will be drawn, specifically concerned about the festivals and celebrations the chamber hosts.
Chelan Chamber Director, Mike Steele, says the whole idea of creating more regulations, when current regulations go un-enforced, just doesn’t make sense.
That public hearing on the proposed noise ordinance is set for this morning at 10 am at the County Commissioners Chambers in Wenatchee with adoption scheduled to follow.
