WashingtonState residents are being warned not to fall victim to a telephone scam asking you to pay a registration fee for use of 9-1-1 emergency services.
RiverCom 911 Director, Millie Tirapelle, reports the State Emergency Management Office has notified regional 911 dispatch centers to be on the alert.
Tirapelle reminds us that 9-1-1 services are funded through a dedicated excise tax on telephone bills and telephone solicitations never originate from Rivercom. If you receive a call along this order, hang up and report the call to the local Sheriff’s non-emergency phone number.
