The Lake Chelan Community Hospital Board will view a draft resolution at their meeting tomorrow that would put a $19 million dollar levy on the August primary election ballot.
The measure will follow two failed attempts to pass levies to remodel the existing hospital. Once in 2006 and again in 2007, the board sought $33 million to replace the aging building.
This time around, the board is looking to build a new hospital on a parcel of land in AppleBlossomCenter, across the highway from Wal-Mart. The bond would seek $19 million of the $30 million project with the remaining funds would be borrowed with the hospitals debt capacity, come from grants and some from the Hospital Foundation.
Lake Chelan Community Hospital CEO, Kevin Abel, says two community meetings were held last week to help inform the public on the plans for the new hospital as well as gather comments from citizens. According to Abel, the meetings were well attended.
The board will meet tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 in the Lake Chelan Community Hospital Board room with the resolution approval set for the April 24th meeting.
