Winthrop mayor, Dave Acheson has concluded an investigation into conduct by the Winthrop Marshalls Office while providing law enforcement support to the Town of Twisp. Mayor Acheson received a letter from Twisp Mayor Soo Ing-Moody late last year stating that the Winthrop Marshals Office was longer welcome to assist on calls for law enforcement.

 

Winthrop Mayor, Dave Acheson, says Twisp’s reasons for the withdrawal included concerns of officer safety and potential liability, which launched an internal investigation by Winthrop into the allegations.

 

Mayor Acheson is encouraging Twisp to re-evaluate its position regarding mutual jurisdictional law enforcement.

 

For now, Twisp will rely on Okanogan County Sheriff Deputies when additional assistance is necessary.
